Interview with IFBB Pro Sandy Grant ~ after the Seattle Mist Football Tryouts.....

Trainer Shannon: "So Sandy, how was it today? Gosh, were you guys really playing outside in all this rain? What's the next step after tryouts?"

Sandy Grant:
"So we will find out tonight if we made it!  They'll call us. They are picking 6-8 girls.  Whoever makes it goes to a mini camp this weekend for practice, etc.  Currently there are 12 players. The original team of 12 and the new girls will practice and train together until Sept. and they will pick 12 out of everyone to play the first game in Sept.

They are looking for aggressive players...(that also look pretty).

Well, with the rain/mist and cold...everyone tuffed it out wearing shorts and sports bras and tank tops.  Yep, that is true football playing weather!

We checked in by handing in a sheet of questions about ourselves and our photo.  We were assigned numbers and it was written with a black marker on our right upper arm.  AJ was 28 and I was 29. Photographer was there to capture that.

We started off with a warm-up of throwing the football then jogging around the field and then stretches and other warm up type drills to really warm up the hamstrings and calves as a group.

Then we broke into 3 groups to do different drills.  I think there were a total of 30 girls trying out.

First Drill was kinda like tag n backs.  3 cones spread apart.  You started at the middle on with one hand on the cone and then you ran as fast as you could to the left cone and touched it, then ran to the farthest cone and touched it and then ran all the way back to the other farthest cone.  We were timed.

Next Drill was shuffling back and forward weaving in and out of cones then at the last cone the football was thrown at you.  I caught it!  Hooray!

Next Drill was a short distance sprint.  Not sure what the distance was.  A yard maybe?  It was timed!

The next 4 Drills were running and catching the ball.  Different stances and different runs to catch the football at different Angels.  AJ & I caught most of them.

Then we all came together had to be in a hut position and try to breakthrough 3 defense guys to make it to the quarter back.  They made it tricky by saying stuff like Blue 32, Blue 32..etc... Hut!...but you had to wait till the guy hut the ball before blowing through the guys.  Both AJ and I rocked that too!  Some girls went at the sound of Hut, which is a penalty, they needed to wait till the ball was actually hut.  So they get to redo that.  They were watching for quickness and hand/eye coordination.

That was it!

Maggie and the whole Seattle Mist Team was there doing everything we were doing.  Fun to watch the team in action.  They all had cute matching tank tops and shorts.

I got interviewed by the PI (I think that was them) on camera!! Hooray!  And another media guy filmed me up close doing one of the drills.  Other media guys were taking pictures of the whole thing.

I had a lot of fun.  Feels good to get out there and be athletic!

I'm sure this will be in the paper or the news or on-line somewhere."

"Great, Thanks Sandy! Now, go get some Vitamin C & extra Glutamine in right away! Let us know the update tonight!" -Trainer Shannon
